While solar systems are generally low maintenance, there are often mechanical or electrical components that need to be serviced or replaced over time. Meet the Owner
Jeff Shoemaker, a Tucson native, founded Custom Solar and Leisure, LLC in 2007, with the goal of providing affordable solar alternatives with the highest quality workmanship and products. After graduating college in 1999 with a major in chemistry and a minor in environmental studies, he began his 12+ year career in the solar industry. Jeff Shoemaker currently sits on the board of the Southern Arizona Solar Standards Board and is strongly committed to the highest standards of Solar Power Installation.“After graduating from Calvin College in 1999 with a BS in chemistry and a minor in environmental studies, I began my solar career in Oregon installing solar water heating and solar pool heating. I transferred back to Tucson, where I was born and raised, to broaden my experience installing photovoltaic systems as well. By 2007, it was clear that I was ready to branch out on my own and founded Custom Solar and Leisure LLC to better serve the Tucson solar community!”
Helping Tucson Go Solar
In 2015, TEP started a residential solar program installing utility owned photovoltaic systems on ~600 of its customers homes in exchange for a low fixed rate for 25 years. Custom Solar and Leisure was selected as one of three of its alliance contractors after thorough vetting in an extensive application process with 13 other applicants. We are proud to partner with Tucson Electric Power to provide clean, sustainable energy!
NABCEP is a nonprofit, voluntary professional certification board and credentialing organization dedicated to upholding professional standards for the renewable energy industry. NABCEP promotes consumer confidence and quality assurance by guaranteeing that certified practitioners have met minimum levels of education and experience, passed a rigorous competency exam, and abide by a strict code of ethics.
